Flat rates from Pearson
Taxis and limousines at the Pearson stands are licensed by the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA). They charge a flat rate for your destination zone, with taxes included and no surge pricing – traffic and weather do not change the price. Major credit cards are accepted.
Pearson's online fare estimate shows the flat rate for your address before you travel. Airport limousines charge about 10% more than taxis.
What can be added
Two surcharges can apply to a taxi from Pearson:
- $15 for four or more checked bags or any oversize item
- $15 for five or more passengers
- The surcharge is charged once per trip, and the driver must tell you before loading
Where to find the taxi
At Terminal 1 the taxi stand is on the Arrivals level at Door D, with limousines at Door C. At Terminal 3, follow the Taxi signs on the Arrivals level. Airport taxis carry a GTAA plate and window decal.
A City of Toronto taxi can pick you up at Pearson only as a pre-arranged ride with a GTAA trip permit, at GTAA prices; these pickups meet at Door A.
Taxi or UP Express?
The UP Express train runs from Terminal 1 to Union Station in about 28 minutes; an adult one-way fare is $12.35, or $9.25 with PRESTO. For one or two travellers going to Union Station it is the cheapest option.
A taxi is usually the better choice with heavy luggage, in a group or when your hotel is away from Union Station – the flat rate is per vehicle, not per person.
The ride back: downtown to Pearson
From downtown the fare follows the City of Toronto rules. If you hail a Toronto taxi or take one from a stand, you pay the lower of the meter and the City's airport flat fare – $53 from the downtown zone (Bathurst Street to the Don Valley, Bloor Street to the lake), according to the City tariff.
With Toronto Taxi App you see the estimated metered fare for your exact address before you order, and passengers pay no commission or booking fee.
