Toronto airport limo or taxi: what is the difference?

Airport limousines at Pearson are licensed by the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, like the airport taxis. They charge a flat rate for your destination zone, with taxes included and no surge pricing – about 10% more than an airport taxi.

At Terminal 1 limousines wait on the Arrivals level at Door C, next to the taxi stand at Door D. At Terminal 3, follow the signs on the Arrivals level.

In Toronto a limousine cannot be hailed. Under the City's Vehicle-for-Hire bylaw it must be booked through a limousine company at least 20 minutes before pickup, and it may not wait at taxi stands.

A limo to Pearson may not charge less than the City's minimum airport tariff – $58 from the downtown zone, compared with the $53 airport flat fare for a taxi from the same zone. For other trips, limousines charge at least $70 plus GST per hour for the first two hours.

Choose by what you need:

• Taxi: City meter rates, available on demand by app, phone, street hail or taxi stand
• Airport limousine at Pearson: flat rate about 10% above the airport taxi
• City limousine to Pearson: booked at least 20 minutes ahead, at least $58 from downtown
• At Pearson, a $15 surcharge applies for four or more checked bags or five or more passengers, so check the vehicle size for big groups
